Concept 650, is what my brothers just got, something like £430 (fitted) with window closure.

Just remembered glass break sensors as well.

The 650 doesnt have the option to have remote start IIRC. When the remote start is added i think the CAT1 status is invaild.

i worked at a BMW main dealer for 6 years and now a porsche one every f**king time we had a car in with an alarm fault guess what ? it was a clifford. overpriced gimmiky toss if you ask me. id get a cobra or a toad instead, cheaper better quality and if you really want you can still add on most of the modules the clifford offer as an upgrade.

Sounds fair enough to me, do you have an alarm other than the stanard one yourself?

i have a conept 50 with anti-hijack so it locks you in.it was on my honda when i bought it but it seams a good set-up

i think half the deal is having a reputible person fitting it in the first place..

when i had my gtturbo i had a cat1 cobra unit fitted worked well never had an issue with it never false alarmed once.i havnt fitted another alarm to my 172 as the cat 1 thats on it is fine, i dont see the point in spending another 300/500 on another alarm which will offer no more protection if the standard one is still working. i have several mates whove had no end of greif with cliffords and replaced them with other units and a guy i deal with through work who does car audio and security said he wouldnt have one on his own car.

IMO it does depend on how the system is fitted, most problems weve seen at work are from when some monkey throws it on in an hour...I had a cobra cat one on mine til it started going off all the time...Guess what.......

12 visits to dealers later n Renault blamed me for leaving the air vents open n little nasty flying things coming thru them were setting the sonics off......load of old tosh, Renault dont know their arse from their elbow...

Although the alarms may be sound, std cat 1s are just that, STD. If a thief gets hold of a car, strips it, finds alarm, he can then nick that model of car very easily cos there all fitted in same bloody place.....

Clifford ROCK, n car starts FUNKY.............lol

a car theif can steal any car if he has the know how dont kid yourself that a non factory cat 1 will offer more protection than the one fitted as standard. theives know where alarms are fitted on certain models usually they will tend to end up in only slightly different places to the factory one. they also will know how to disarm or disable all the major standard and aftermarket alarms. so lets face it thats not going to cause them major problems.

Appreciated, but still think its down to if its fitted by a monkey or not...

One last other thing tho, the black jax feature on the cliffords is great...Anybody tries carjacking you, just give them the keys, no fights, no possible attack from weapons that these dickheads sometimes carry.....watch where car goes, follow 5 / 10 mins later n the cars sat in middle of road, lights flashing, siren blaring..............

just waiting for you, the lovely owner to collect it !!!!! Int Milk Brilliant !!!

arghhhh clifford, what a pain in the arse these are. I will never buy another clifford alarm. i had one fitted to my RT (professionally apparently) and have had to take it back (under warrenty of course) multiple times to get it adjusted.

I have heard that they are great alarms, this is why i decided to go with one, but once youve had a bad experience... ya know. kind of taints your opinion slightly.

ok then... what alarm do you guys recommend then bearing in mind my requirements

(up to £500, option of adding modules to it)

  ST

Toad AI606 full closure with tilt, impact and stage two motion sensors. After the important stuff get the window module and the remote light activation fitted.

You should be able to get all that supplied and have enough money left over for a good night out! ;)

clifford, toad, cobra, concept....

bit of mixed opinions at the moment... can any1 convince me on the best alarm to have for wot i want?

Why do you want to spend half a grand on an alarm! Get an Avital Maxx3, its cat1 alarm and immobiliser, its got all the usually safety features and gadgets youd need, its very user friendly and you dont get any of the sh*t that comes with those poxy f**king cliffords! which is strange cos Avital and clifford are the same company!?!

and the place that fitted it threw in an additional cat2 immobiliser as well! all for 300notes! save yourself the money!

Ive had it for nearly 2 years now and have not needed to return to where it was fitted and it has worked perfectly every time....says it all really....
