which do you think is more fun?

  '91 Clio RT =D
Which car do you think is more fun and why:

Clio sport 172
Mini Cooper S (old one not BMW Crap)

Sorry if this is wrong forum, I figured it'd fit here as its partly to do with clio :)

Anyway yer I Will start:

Mini Cooper S :D

  Clio 172 sport
Well it depends what you call fun really

If you call fun watching the italian job and fixing your car in the rain then go for the mini

If you call fun variable valve timing and great cornering go for the clio

  vw bora
ph1 172 clio all the way :rasp: but those mini's do handle a s**t load better than clio's the like go karts with a bigger engine lol but they lack alot of straight line speed

  M2 Competition
If you mean fun as in not being able to fit in it, and spending lots on fixing rust, the mini.

If you mean fun as in, quick with brilliant handling, and spending lots on fixing everything else, the clio.

The mini is more fun, fact. Had both, even the Trophy feels heavy and unresponsive compared to a classic cooper.

  LY 182 FF CUPPED
Had a Twinpoint cooper from new a few years back.....
MAJOR rust after 2 years - to the point the bulk head was coming away from the rest of the car.
13 inch wheels went through a set of wheel bearings very quickly.

The later mini's were crap.....

But have been in a car running twin webbers and on 10 inch wheels wrapped in yoko rubber.....running 170 bhp. that would give the clio some serious competition.
That said they are an enthusiats car that require lots of attention, usually carried out in your own garage.....nowadays people just want to get out and drive.....not spend 50% of your weekend bent over backwards with a torch in your mouth and an adjustable spanner tighting jubillee clips in the pouring rain, just prior to standing up too quickly and banging your head on the bonnet.
Or carrying a can of damp start because the car can't handle the british humidity....
Tram lining to the point you look like you have had 1 too many stellas....
the list goes on and on.....

the fun thing's probably relative to the amount of hassle you have in running the car. it's difficult to compare the mini with anything less than 40 years old as things have just moved on so much - the basic design didn't change throughout production and the earliest cars will be 50 years old next year.

i've not driven one for the best part of 10 years but still remember how much fun 2.7 turns lock to lock was - the chuckability was probably the highlight from a driving/fun point of view.

definitely a car for the enthusiast - and a very rich one if you're talking about the Cooper S models

Dont get me wrong craig, I love the classic mini, its one of the cars I'd own and polish but never drive though.

Just because I dont find the driving experience that special. Much prefer a 1*2, tbh I prefered my eibach'd 1.6 clio to my mates classic mini.

Im lucky enough to have a 64 'S' as well as my cup and to be honest one of the reasons i bought the cup was for a modern car how similar it felt. I think its hard to compare the two as the mini is 50 years old next year. The mini is def an enthusiasts car i spend nearly as much time playing around with it as driving it. But when you want a buzz around the lanes cant beat the straight cut box whine and go kart handling of the 'S'
Posted this pic before but have it again:rasp:

id take the mini any day of the week. i miss mine loads.
