Which Machine Polisher

  Honda & VW
Well after my arm aching after hand polishing my Mrs’ 182 the other week I really want a machine polisher, I would be a beginner to machine polishing but may plan on using it quite abit once I’ve mastered the art.

Which/what type should I go for, haven’t really got a budget as such as I will save for whatever one I want/is best.

They do good "packs" mate with some heads and polishes and stuff. Might be a good start for a beginner.

Have a look on Elitecarcare and i4detailing on here.

I would always suggest something like a G220 first then move on to a rotary more so because I don't want you damaging anything.

i'm really not clued up on the difference with them all, whats the main difference between this G220 and the rotary?

G220 is Dual Action oscialltion (Ie round and round and up and down at the same time (kinda))

Rotary is just round and round.

Rotary's are said to be more agressive.

I just sold my Kestrel Das-6 (Dual Action) as I have a silverline Rotary now.

Ah Dave KG.

I bow to his superior knowledge.

  "Navy" N17 TWO
My first was a Port Cable 7424 then moved up to the Silverline rotary
Prefer the first if I'm honest :)

  Maybe a 172 Cup..
I'm sure a bit of research or probably instructions would tell you how to go on Damo..

Ah Dave KG.

I bow to his superior knowledge.

Hes a f**king faggot mate. I bet he got bullied at school.

His writeups are a joke, every one describes what goes on....I quote form the bible....

All polishes were applied using a "Zenith Point" method - essentially starting out slowly to spread the polish, beginning to work at a moderate speed (circa 1200rpm) to generate a little warmth in the panel and get the wax based lubricants evenly spread so the machine simply glides effortlessly, and then working until the residue goes clear at 1500 - 1800rpm depending on application, before refining and burnishing at 1200rpm and 900rpm to refine the finish and jewel to a crystal sharp gloss.

Like seriously Dave, f**k off. Heres a reflection shot, of his ugly little mug...

You cant do any damage with a G220, well not really, and the rotray is dangerous. Apparantly.

thing is, like all full time detailers on DW they all have their own preferred products and shops that they buy from so you will only see them recommended certain online stores to buy from. There is no best of anything (apart from Vintage wax lol!)

and whatever is the "flavour" of the month on DW is what people will recommend and buy lol

loads of knowledgeable people on that forum though.

I quoted something which he includes in every write up, like im not bored of reading the same s**t every time, atleast people like you get on with it and provide a good selection of photos. I have to agree though, if it were not for his guide on rotary poloishing, i would never have bought one. Same for the G220 really.

Thanks mate, i did go a bit OTT in that previous post, much like my rants on the clio GT.

Isn't that the whole point?

You sound like a tool, I bet he has a very enjoyable life and no doubt the money he has made has made him very comfortable.

Yeah to a certain extent. They money he has made has made him very comfortable? I thought detailers didnt earn much.

Detailers can earn a fairly extensive wage - if they have the contacts and the following. Depends what it leads to - look at Polished Bliss. Executive and prestige cars every week, a shop etc. It all adds up!

Guys like Paul Dalton getting flown over to Dubai to deatil cars? £5k a time? That's serious wedge for detailing a car.

With the Menz kit one. You will also need a spot pad backing plate and cutting/finishing spot pads.

Remember that to machine polish, you also need wash gear, drying gear, claying, taping, sealant/wax etc. There is absolutely no point going half heartedly into machine polishing. :)

Got everything else i.e. washing/drying gear, clays, waxes, polishes etc etc

Have hand polished but really want to make my life easier...
