whisting noise

Hey guys i have had my 182 since december. I have always had what i consider a nice low pitched whistling noise qhen i accelerate but today i found the noise really high pitched and annoying. Usually the car only makes the noise under acceleration but when i stopped at my house i could still hear it. I got out the car and the noise was terrible nothing like i have heard before. I opened the bonnet and the noise was similar to a childs scream. I have had a search on the forum and have seen similar problems but they all seem to be when the car is moving. Does any1 know what this could be. Any help appreciated.

tensioner maybe mate? aux belt one or cambelt

Sounds like your aux belt or tensioner the problem I take it your cars not had it chnaged and it should have.

Get it checked ASAP as it fit snaps it takes out the cambelt 99% of the time which is £1k+ to fix at best.

The car had its 24k service last month would it have been done then? Can anyone check it or just renault?

Nope its done at 36k its changed but they do go there a bad design.

If you've a full stamped up service book then its fine.

Not all renault services but they fixed my window regulator under warranty at the 24k service. Should i avoid driving the car then? Am gonna be bricking it.

Depends how bad it is I'd get it checked ASAP.

Cool i will try and get it booked in. Prob have to wait 2 weeks knowing Renault. Ill be driving very carefully.
