whistling noise above 85mph

hi, when doing above 85mph in my car (roughly) (I only do this speed on my driveway of course) im getting a whistling noise from behind the dashboard somewhere, its that same noise you get if your window isn’t up fully when your driving, anyone know where this is coming from so I can try and stop it, because its getting annoying on long journeys (ive got a long driveway!)

i have a really high pitch noise which occoured at 100mph at the nurburgring.

I have since found that it is the light surround near the rear view mirror. I have pushed it and pressed the surround whilst driving with the noise and i can get rid of it.

Do you have a 2002 1.2 16v martin or is this from your mk1?

My door mirrors whistle sometimes depends on speed and the wind outside too

It's just the air rushing between the joints in the mirrors - still not as annoying as the sunroof :dapprove:

on "my driveway" mate where i wasn't braking a speed limit if you know what i mean

seb182, yep its my 2002 1.2 16v i dont have a MK1 lol ill have a play about with the light surround next time it happens, but it defo sounds like its coming through the air vents or somthing, ive closed them all though and it still happens!

I also have a very long drive and have noticed the same problem speed seems to vary from about 85 to 95 onwards. very annoying and off putting high pitched whistle / vibration sound seems to be from windscreen area. nice to know its not just my car. i was chasing a mk5 Golf gti (on my drive) the first time it happend and i had to let off and the golf got away
