white rectangle

hi, driving around and about I sometimes see a white rectangle painted in the middle of the lane, what is it for or what does it mean?

i think its got 2 meanings give way for most of us but something else for volvo drivers

the rectangles are timing marks for the old bill to time u and get ur speed

there are 2 a set distance apart and they time u over that distance to get ur speed

nope, they follow behind you and use it s a ref point, timing you between the two marks and working out yor average speed......then do you if its higher than teh limit.

I thought they were circles, they are down here....
