White/Yellowy Plastic Gearbox thing!

Not the best description.. lol. The bit that I'm on about (found inside the car under the gearstick), can it be removed easily?

if they are the same as the mk1 (which i think they are) you have to take it out from under the car, which can mean removing/dropping the exhaust if there isnt space to get it out

4 bolts to remove it (plus moving the exhaust)
