Who’s had the biggest speed from a V6

  Clio v6

MK 1 V6 PERFORMANCE
0-62 mph 6.4 secs
Maximum speed 147 mph

Seen 155 in my MK1 on the speedo. If that was accurate then Im a famous p**n star.

MK 2 V6 PERFORMANCE
0-62 mph 5.8 secs
Maximum speed 153 mph

Seen 145 in my MK2 but the car lifts of the road after that.

Both Vees will indicate 155 but from 140 to 155 you could get a hospital appointment through sooner.

Ive had an indicated 150mph on my Mk1, and an indicated 155mph on my Mk2 but depends on how good the speedo is I suppose?!?!?

The speedo in mine overestimates by about 6% - reads 74mph when the GPS (which is dead accurate) reads 70. Assuming they used the same calibration in all of them, then a speedo reading of 150 is actually just over 140 in reality.

Ive had mine at 130 (GPS reading) and it felt like it was going to take off, so Id want a dead flat piece of tarmac before taking it any higher!

For reference my Escort Cosworth used to feel rock solid at 150!

  Forester Sti, SC Clio V6,

Dream on - the CSL would kill it stone dead!!!!

Mine would pull top but not with me behind the whell to much frontal lift over 135 - feel well light - just fitting Canards to help the splitter.

Noth standard cars are probably faster in 5th as sixth is way to high

179mph full rpm MK1

164 full rpm mk2

both in top

Your car is new is it not?

Mine refused to go over 140 for the first month or so.

Ive had 150mph on the clock (so maybe thats only in the 140sin real terms?) front end felt stable, not light at all??

but still I wouldnt like to go up against an M3...

I have to agree with you simon, which is unusual coz your so Clio V6 biased ;), but ive never felt either my Mk1 or Mk2 feel unstable at top speeds?!?!? Maybe it depends on how the cars have been set up at the factory, mind you, you would of thought theyd all be the same.

P.S. An M3 CSL would kick the back door in of a Clio V6, and leave it hanging off its hinges. As much as I love my vees, and thats a hell of alot, get real guys!!!

My MK 1 handled very "weird" until I took it to Elite and had all the geometry stuff aligned. After that it was so sure footed it was almost boring.

The MK 2 will be sorted very soon, but not using the official Renault technical specialists advice for its poor handling. I dont have many bags of cement kicking about my house.

155mph on the speedo again suppose depends how accurate it is. As for handling feels as solid as a rock at those speeds.. To be honest may be just me? My car feels a hell of a lot safer at those speeds than at 70mph!

One thing I have noticed is the engines dont half loosen up a hell of a lot with extra miles. Mine just done 15k and tight as, whereas a friends has done 27k and much more free at top speeds.
