wHO’S IDEA WAS IT TO PUT THAT THERE

Just took my car for a drive and the oil light can on. So I got back to check the oil and found the dipstick in the most qwkward of places - just in front of the engin and under a peice of manifold that gets very bloddy hot - sorry but i now iam in a bad mood and have a nice burn mark on the back of my hand.

Worse location for one I have ever known :@

Thats nothin - when you want to change the oil in the engine you
have to lift the car in the air and get underneath to undo the sump plug.
Why didnt they put the sump plug on the top of the engine ?? stupid Renault !!

Should have waited till it all cooled down, but your right it is kinda hidden away.

LOL @ sump plug at top of engine..

because how would the oil drain out if it was on the top of the engine???

lol u should see it on my clio! u have to put ure hand into engine bay and feel for it! its about 4 inches high and at bottom of engine! u cant see it by lookin have to feel for it!!

I suppose you could check it on the digital oil level on the dash? I think Honda did the best with the Civic Type R. Right on the top of the engine (no it aint next to the sump plug!)

Hey chris - who is hoda ? not a relative of that little green pixie of star wars is it ?
How do you mean m8. It clearly says Honda?!

Chris

my car doesnt come with a sump plug, you have to fill the engine with water then catch the oil with a cup as it spills out the top,

after that you drain the engine by sticking a hose into it and use a reverse action compressor or take the head off and sccop it out.

not running very well at the moment

you should see the 4 door version. even narrower. Apparently its meant to stop you doing it when the engine is on because obviously its red hot and the fan could kick in and rip your hand off.

Just cause the engine is off dont mean the radiator fan couldnt come on.. only way to make sure it doesnt is disconnect the battery.
