Who’s got a Clio GTT near Essex





Dont believe everything you read about the GTT being so easily tunable. Yes you can get silly power, but at the cost of reliability. 250bhp for everyday useage will mean a big ass turbo which will be laggy as feck...

Ive had a GTT engine in my Clio for a while now - its good fun, but dont believe everything you read on the tuners websites...

did the boost controler have to be hard-wired on this, if so must have been a big job! the blitz controllers are linked by an adapter so the lume must have been butchered!
No idea mate, Torsion are fitting it, they have an Apexi on theirs.

ive gotta speak to dave to see if they got the pack i sent them. be interesting to know how theyre doing that as im sure its be hard wired! if you have one of those itll open up a whole new world! my mates got one on a pulsar, its class!

I got mine from America, even with the postage and VAT it was a massive saving. The installation didnt look too complicated from the instructions but what do I know. (feck all)

as long as the carb jetting etc allows for at least 6% CO under load boost should be fine... when the charge temp goes too hight though it does not matter how much fuel you chuck in.. it will detonate.....

to achieve 250bhp is not easy at all.... and if the carb is only bored to 28mm choke sleeve then its going to be even harder... no matter how large the turbo etc is...

propper engineering has to be done on and engine under that amount of stress...

A Rally engine from the Turbo 2 cars in full race trim was running 350-400 bhp... and to put that into perspective its got £3500 worth of exhaust manifold.... a large intake (over 50mm) and fully mapped fuel injection.... the engine I suspect costs over £20k on its own..... oh and its running a dry sump system.... and a turbo and external wastegate from a 1980s renault F1 car....... YES.... it fooking massive... max power on the dyno cell was a tad over 500 bhp... running nearly 3 bar of boost

In total agreement.

250bhp isnt as easy as many people make out, especially with the technical level of engineeing that most companies put out. Its all bits and bobs from companies slapped together. I very much doubt that anybody has put in any time into combustion chamber design or the difference between each cylinders ECR and a/f ratios. I know andy has because i talk to him about it.

It isnt just a matter of running more boost and more fuel. Making sure the engineering is precise, accurate and of a good design is 90% of the game, slapping parts together during the build has no bearing on the search for power. To make it reliable as a daily car, concentrating on things which solely affect the burn speed and ferocity is whats important.

Good job Im not looking for that much!

Just want a sound engine with enough oomph to make me forget my 16v engine!

Went to Torsion Tuning last night and paved the way, just need to convince my sponser (dads wallet) to help with the financing!
