Who did the satnav kit with dash mould

I want to get sat nav either tom tom, the AVIC-X1R or i want to have it built into the dash like on the 182/172s full screen. Means im less likly to forget to take the tomtom out then its gets stolen, And it will a lot smarted i think, and be more practical than a screen opening up infront of the air vents!

I saw ages ago someone like mike172sport was it that supplied the dash moulding and recomended parts to do it all?

Can it de done with a touch screen?

Please let me know who has it built in and point me in the right direction! Or shall i just get the AVIC-X1R?

Cheers

I have never seen one with a touch screen.
im fairly sure mike172sport fitted the sat nav etc to his 172.

  Brisol my lover..

ive got the pioneer avh 7500 thats got the sat nav, its a flip out head unit with touch screen its real cool and looks like a normall head unit so tea leafs dont notice it....down side, its a bit expensive for what it is.

It was me, I can still get the parts and done the same install to Ady182s car.

As to touch screen it would have to be exactly the same size screen as the VDO system.

Should be doing another install soon for another member.

As to price its down to what you want with the screen, dash and trim is about 250, vdo screeen 60 -120 (ebay), multimedia unit VDO (120), PS2 approx 60-80, wiring and relays/fuses etc 40 max, if you want full colour nav with it you can pick up a 2nd hand VDO Dayton system for anything from 300-600(ebay) and that would include screen, oh and if you have a ps2 you will need an inverter 30-40 new.

For me to fit it for you and set it all up to run via your head-unit 200.

I would not be without my set-up now.

Will confirm prices tommorow on the dash and screen holder.

where can u get the screen from, what model is it etc....???

And if you want to run ps2/xbox etc via the screen you will need this.....

Make sure you get another sceen cable cause the one from the nav computer goes into the mi2100 unit, so you need one to come from that unit to the screen.

Best to get an MP3 head unit, I use Sony as you can get the adapters to allow use of the remote radio control just by the steering wheel.
I had to take my cd changer out as I wanted to mount my ps2 in its place.
You lose the temp and dash display, that cant be disconnected if you have regulated air conditioning and I hide them under the dash trim.

I recon its worth the money as when you look at any fold out screen system with nav the cost loads and can be stolen easily.

So full list of parts as follows

Sat nav dash

dash sceen holder

VDO ms 5000 system (make sure you get the remote holder with the system)

VDO MI2100 screen interface (optional for ps2 etc)

VDO Screen cable (only if you have the MI2100 unit)

MP3 head unit with aux in

240 Volt inverter (optional for ps2 etc)

1 relay

selection of wiring, fuses.

6 hours spare and a good understanding of automotive electrics:p

Optional Nav system speaker, I have a Nokia mobile phone car speaker fitted to mine, all hidden out of the way. The screen has a built in speaker and works pretty good but its mounted under the nav dash so not that loud.

Ady182 has had me fit this set up to his 182 and I think he is very happy with it.

End results... you can watch helicopters in ya car in full surround sound, LOL
