Right, I've a few issues with my car and am now at the stage at which I'd like to start trying to sort them all out.
The steering has the longest list and I was hoping to be able to take a little advice from those who might have had similar issues.
Here's the list (!):
- PAS leaks from the rack and the pipe at the front of the engine (the one with the electrical connector plugged into it)
- Stalling on full lock
- Sharp 'clonking' noise from the rack (?) as it's moved through its travel
- groaning noise accompanies the clonking (top mounts?)
I've found someone who can renew the seals in the rack for about £100 and am wondering about the pipe on the front of the engine - is this the expensive £150 pipe that I've read others have had fail?
Is the electrical connector that's plugged into it the sensor that I need to renew to sort the stalling problem?
Any ideas what might be causing the sharp 'clonk'? I *think* it's coming from the rack. I'm prepared to fork out £400 for a new rack but would obviously prefer not to if I don't have to.
I'm presuming the groaning noise is most likely to be the top mounts - ?
Sorry for all the questions but if anyone is able to offer a little advice about their own related experiences/ideas about the costs involved, I'd be most grateful.
Thanks!
