In what way would you mod it?
Could you give me more detail on this waywardness, ie ; is it wayward over 150mph around bends? should I throw it into a bend at more than 140 ( which is the most I have done to date )

I am eager to see exactly what this wayward handling is all about. I have done every trick I can think of and still the v6 sticks to the road like a boring land crab.

Stig where are you? ( dont care who are you ?) I need your expert abilities.
I was referring to Mr.Clarksons comments re. the Mk1 V6 from last weeks edition of Top Gear.

As for modding a V6, I wouldnt have a clue - it was an open-ended question to everyone!

Quote: I dont think there will be too many around to cause depreciation, they will probably be in short supply and demand might hold up prices.

This short supply thing that the dealers are trying to impress on everyone is just a classic marketing ploy. If renault, one of Europes premier car manufactrers cant manufacture cars at the rate they can sell them at then they would have a crap business. Its all talk to try and keep the residuals up. When it comes down to it having a solid, classic car that remains desirable after its released is what will keep the residuals up.

Yeah the V6 is a headturner but at the end of the day there are other cars in that performance bracket that are more practical and with a better track record in holding value. Dont get me wrong I think the V6 is a wicked car and Renault are stars for having the balls to stick an engine in the back of a normal family hatchback but if it were me I could not face loosing 30-40% of the cars value in the forst year which is probably what the reality would be!

If you cant afford, dont buy.

A car is for driving and not thinking of residual values.

The road holding of MK1 is O.K. for me on the U.K. roads.

Have not had a problem.

When I get it on the track might have second thoughts but do not think so.

All the best

Sorry ive missed out on this one!! Been in Spain for a week, still time to add some comment.

F*cking Evo Smeevo & Scooby Shmooby, i dont give a flyer if there technically better cars because......

.......THEY LOOK F*CKING CRAP!

Geoff_172s correct ive had my Mk2 on provisional order for well over two years (originaly had a second Mk1 on order but this was cancelled when TWR went into recievership, so went onto provisional Mk2 order book amediately). There is only 14 people on this provisional order book!

As far as colour is concerned, dont like the silver air intakes so at the moment have my Mk2 on oreder in Titanium silver but theres talk of them doing a metalic grey, metalic yellowy green, and a metalic brown all of which wont have the silver air intakes either, so i might go for the grey.

Seeing that some people are getting confused ill try and put you all straight as far as ordering is concerned. Yes you can go to a Renault dealer and place an order and yes they will take you deposit but, and this is where people are getting confused, Renault UK CAN NOT phsyicaly order your car with Renault Sport yet because the RHD cars have yet to be put into full production! So all though youve placed a deposit your still not going to see your car for at least another two months.

I hope this has cleared up some issuse.

P.S. Listen too GR, see knows what shes talking about;)

The MK1 has depreciated a lot because it simply doesnt have a good reputation. Pretty much everyone said it underperformed and handled badly.

With the MK2 weve already seen EVO rating it very highly and Clarkson raving about it. I think its going to hold its value much better this time. The Scooby and Evolution craze is burning out too.

Until the MK3 appears that is.;)

Then we will be hearing Mr Clarkeson telling us " The MK2 was better than the MK1, but this time Renault have made the MK3 better than it will ever get".

Of course thats only until the MK4 comes out.

Dash, ive been told that the next really hot car to come out off renaultsports dieppe factory is not going to be of the clio ilk but megane instead!!

So i guess this means no Mk3 or Mk4 clio V6s?!?!

Dash

You have always been happy with your Mk1 V6 havent you?

I suppose bringing out a new model of V6 Clio is a bit like when manufacturers bring out a "new much improved" Daz washing powder, when previously we thought we were using the best powder we then find out the opposite is true!

;)

BTW.

First impressions of my friends MK2.

Hi Dash,

The mark 2 isnt really a different car, to the mark 1. I did expect more of a difference!

The mark 2 now reacts like a saloon car. The body roll is a little less and the springs are much stiffer, only bumpy on certain roads. Overall still comfortable.

I hope the engine is going to make the same progression as with the mark 1 model
( which was much quicker than anyone really mentioned )

Just as the 5 Turbo of the eighties did, shortly after you have stopped the
engine, the fans at the radiator in the front cut in, which gives a nice sound
when you walk away from the car.

The painted inserts on the dash look great in daylight, the interior has
improved with the new dash, you really do not miss the white dials.

Oh yes, the sound system (not the engine) is much better now.

The lorry-like turning circle still remains... :))

Regards,
