Why does my central locking wake my speedo up?

Good morning all,

My speedo is beginning to die, I came to terms with this and have booked it in for a new sensor, but whilst driving to work today the central locking randomly triggered (opened & closed) whilst going normal speed down the motorway (70mph). When this happened the speedo came dancing back to life again.

Is it possible that there is some kind of short between the central locking and the speedo? Rather than the sensor just being knackered?

Do you have auto-locking turned on? Could it be that the speedo woke up, the car went "s**t we're doing over 6mph" and triggered the auto-lock again?

Very good point. And probably the right one. So its still just the sensor then, bummer. Thought I had found somekind of crazy new clio problem
