Why is it doing this?

  Goliath I
Right, Ive got an 05 182 cup which has done about 10,000 miles and there seems to be something wrong with the steering wheel/wheels.

Whenever I go over a bump or catch something like a cats eye the wheel and steering will completely jerk to one side. the steering wheel goes about quarter of a turn then jerks back and I gotta hold onto it tight cause Im afraid the car might veer off road or onto on coming traffic :S

My brother's car had this for a while in his megane, turned out the front right alloy was cracked. Just an idea.
Lives on the IOW so roads are a bit :S and he had TSW Razors ...

  BMW M135i
It might just be how it is, I get alot of feedback through the wheel like this when going over bumps and potholes etc. Infact you get a lot of feedback through the steering full stop compared to most other modern cars out then. I bloody love it, you can feel so much about whats happening.

  a thirsty one
i would get it to a garage mate and get it on the ramps maybe some kind of suspension issue/steering rack loose.

Silly question but have you checked the wheel nuts?

Sounds daft but its often overlooked.

actually thinking about it, I had a slow puncture about 3 months back so I just stopped off at some random garage and they plugged it. and its only over the last couple of weeks that Ive started noticing it

Its due for its service soon so I'll probably mention it to them then, would the warranty cover it?
