Why is my xbox chat really quiet?

As above, though i'd have a go, why is everything really quiet?

Have you turned up the volume dial on the headset?

Its never especially loud, poor internetz maybe?

turn the volume up on your menu of ingame chat

Done both, it's crap, can only make out odd words

Ah thats usual unless you go private chat, coms are sometimes crystal and sometimes barely a word or white noise!

it's been like this forever, just assumed it was cos i never used the headset. Even if i turn it onto tv output it's crap.

same as mine, private chats fine though. just the way it is i guess, headset doesnt make a difference. the wireless one is w8nk.
