Why primer should i use?

I have just taken my bump strips of my 1.2 dynamique and sanded them down ready for colour codeing.

Whats the best primer to use?
Should i sand each layer of primer down?
How many layers of primer should i use?

you want a plastic primer, then just a regular grey/white primer.2 layers of plastic primer, 3 layers of primer, leave it 10 minutes between each coat then an hour minimum for the final layer, then just key it up to paint on.

Isnt that gonna be abit pointless?? Using both primers? Sounds like a bit of a waste of money... Is it for the best and will it give a better finish?

wouldnt harm to flatten off between the layers with some 800 will give the best finish. Are you using a gun or aerosol?

juts an areosol can, but you can buy like a little gun trigger thing, would you reccomend that?

So, could i not just use one primer...?

And also would i sand down my coloured layers??

I think halfords sell a big can of light grey plastic primer for about £6

The thing is i have attempted this before so i have had some practice.
But this time i have spent ages sanding down some fresh bumpstrips so want to get it right.

I just need to know, what primer to use, how many layers, and how often to sand down and if i should sand down in between my (pearl black) layers

use a plastic primer (2 coats) then a normal primer (3-4 coats) leave 10 mins between coats leave over night,apply normal primer when flatered down if need be.

sanding down inbertween the coats of paint is pointless.unless there is shite in the paint

As above, lightly sand between coats of primer and before applying the pearl black. The key is patience, also dont do it in cold/damp conditions.

and dont sand the colour before putting the laquer on this will damage the colour.

best to leave primer to dry for a while so it sinks into imperfections properly.

if you spray onto primer thats been sprayed n flatted not long before, you may find it will sink over time n look a mess
