Why so overpriced??

Since moving back to the 1*2 scene, i've noticed that alot of used parts are ridiculously overpriced.

When I owned the 172 Flamer a year or so ago, I bought a Cup Spoiler for it. £85 posted iirc. £30 to have it sprayed.
Now people are wanting £150+ for a spoiler?!! SRS??! They're like £170-90 new aren't they, so why would you buy a second hand one for that price, unless its already in the colour needed?!!

There have been plenty of other parts that i've seen that seem to have risen in price since I sold the Flamer.

They're old sheds now. Y U TRY TO MAKE EACH OTHER PAY PREMIUM FOR SHED PARTS?!!

I agree about the spoiler... Will be my next purchase but f**k me people want to rob you for them.... V6 or Trophy spoilers I can understand but Cup ones aren't from a rare model.

Cup spoilers are more expensive when the paint is in good nick as then you can just fit it (if it's the right colour).

Nothings over priced, you're just not looking hard enough for the bargains! ;)

I paid £250 for a v6 spoiler, sold it for £200. Worth it IMO.

Agree about the Cup Spoilers, sold mine a few months ago for 120 and thought I got a decent price, then I got told I'd let it go cheap? lol

Saw a boot lid and a cup spoiler from a 182 for sale on Ebay for £140 last week.

  Never above 25mpg
Look hard enough and you'll find one for cheap enough. Then when you can resell it for £150+ you'll be happy

  DON'T SEND ME PM'S!!
cars are worth less, people dont like to take the loss so break them up and ask top money for the bits

  Discounted 1*2 parts
Not being funny, but with those prices, second hand prices aren't bad.

£183 for the spoiler and brake light unpainted posted, another 50 to paint it....

You're at £233, so even paying 175 you're saving more than £50!!!

I reckon 80% of the spoilers that get sold on here still need spraying the correct colour.

Never going to be as cheap as a second hand item but not far off ;)

I don't know about that, I waited for a while until one came up in my colour, otherwise I'd never pay the premium! I guess if others don't do it, your offer is worth while!

The chance of me getting a Cup spoiler in Flame Red is pretty much non-existent though :rasp:

Thats whats annoying.

When I bought the Cup Spoiler for the Flamer, the going rate was around the price that I paid (£80-120), it was just a case of waiting for one to turn up. Whereas now, they've somehow raised the prices to that silly amount.

Its like the OZ F1's too. People wanting loads of money for what are essentially 10 year old wheels off a Clio.

I'm looking forward to bumping this the second you try and sell something, Paul. Lol.

The Cup spoiler is barely any different anyway. You'd think it came with a free blowjob and a unicorn the way people rave about it.

^ I'm not getting a Ph2 bumper.

Nom.

LOL... Well, I suppose if every other otter does it, might aswell jump on the bandwagon .

I really want a Cup Spoiler tbh. I think it finishes off the rear, same as what the Cup Spoiler does with the 200 rear end tbh ;)

I remember paying about £100 forum f1's, then a year later people were trying to sell them for over double that. Still, got a good price for mine so not complaining!

Everything is worth what someone will pay for it, and plenty of people are willing to pay those prices for items such as the cup spoiler. You are always going to get a variation in the price people are asking for items, someone who is breaking a 172 on their drive doesn't have a unit to pay for, with staff, the environmental agency side of things, etc so they can obviously charge less for the parts. Some people are willing to pay extra from somewhere who knows what they are talking about, and offer a warranty.

Btw we have a cup spoiler in stock if you want one ;)

FLOL I'm tempted just to keep it and wait til I can be bothered to paint it. I'll only spend the money I get for it on absolute crap.

When I bought my Cup spoiler for my Monaco the going rate was about £150+. Luckily I found one already painted Monaco Blue which I bought for £145 and sold for £150.

Thing is a lot of people don't know how much things cost new from Renault. I've sold some items for more than they could have got them new from Renault.

Things are worth what people are prepared to pay, I didn't know that at the time and no-one was forced to buy it.

And what's you running a bodyshop got to do with anything :S
