Widescreen Monitor Stretches Aspect Ratio

Basically, the monitor in our shop broke and all we could get was a widescreen chap.

However it stretches the aspect ratio...

Does anyone know how I can make it normal, with black box's either side?

Its a s**t computer, the onboard graphics dont offer widescreen resolution.

Come on now.

in that case you be be fucked if the driver doesn't allow you to change the way it displays the image

You might be able to update the drivers which would enable you to get wide screen resolutions. I know some of our shitty old ipaqs couldn't manage it.

Get the latest graphics driver.
If it doesn't allow you to choose a widescreen resolution, just uninstall the graphics driver and delete all the driver files from your machine. The generic Windows display drivers even offer widescreen resolutions in XP SP2 and beyond so you should be able to get widescreen working that way. They should get installed automatically at startup if no other driver can be found.
