wierd goings on

Car  AMV8, Mk1 Golf
my dad woke me up at 3am this morning to tell me my car alarm was going off, so i look out my window and indeed see its flashing but no siren,
not so odd as my last 172 had a dud siren and just flashed

went out to the car unlocked it... still flashing

it was actually the hazards just going off... pressed the hazards button turn them off.. all is fine.

:S

Yes indeed they have. Gem's 172 was doing this a few weeks ago. All it needed was the hazard switch to be pressed in and out a couple of times.
Was very odd though.

it is a renault after all - just would be the same without the odd rattle here and dodgy button there would it? lol

Hazard switch fails, mine did it a few months ago...the indicators started flashing when the car hadn't been used for a day, and they wouldn't switch off so had to take the fuse out!

Think the switch is only about £20. :)

Mine's done this before, hazard lights came on for no reason, silly car.

Only done it twice in 3 years so I don't really consider it a problem, just another Renault quirk!

I just popped the switch out and unlugged it, then nicked one from a breakers yard whilst purchasing few other bits couple days later, job done.

i got a new (ish) one from ebay for a tenner not long ago. The spring in the button went, so it wouldnt stay depressed, when i pushed it in to turn the hazards off.

Isn't there a way the siren could have been turned off for the alarm? I know my other half's (ph1) 172 does the same sometimes when i've acidentally blipped it a couple of times by mistake and got in and set the alarm off (well, just the hazards flash), but I thought it was set that way by him on purpose?

Could be completely wrong tho but i'm sure he's never mentioned anything being wrong with it... ;)
