Will a Petrol Alternator work on a Diesel Dci

I THINK my alternator might not be charging my battery - today when i came to start it, the battery light stayed on and when it turned over it was a fraction slower than normal......when i got to work, i turned the car off....turned the ignition on and again the battery light stayed on.

If it turns out to be the alternator (which i'm gonna check tonight) will an alternator form any Clio 2000> onwards, fit my 2002 Dci?

take it too halfords and get them to do a free battery check..

it cant be the battery - it had a brand new one less than 3 months ago

Check the alternato first could well just be a bad conncection on them.
