Will I like Deus Ex Human Revolution?

Never played the original Deus Ex yet I feel like I should have, then I saw that Human Revolution is out on Friday. What's it like? I tend to like most 'good' games that come out (except ME2), is this similar to Borderlands, Fallout 3, Oblivion etc? Looks a bit Half Lifey?

You say ME2 as in Mass Effect 2? That was a truly epic game. If Deus Ex HR comes anywhere close to the gameplay in that, I'll be well happy.

Seriously, if you didn't like ME2, I doubt you'll be bowled over by Deus Ex. I finally downloaded my pre-order from Steam this afternoon - can't believe I've got to wait until Friday to try it out....:(

D.

To be fair I didn't really give Mass Effect 2 much of a chance, I downloaded the PS3 demo and I just got irritated at the length of the unskippable cut scene at the start. Pllus when I watched my housemate play it (for the forth time through) it looked fairly linear. I have a real problem with linear games since I had the epic disappointment of Final Fantasy 13. 15 hours of walking down corridors before I gave up with it ruined my brain.

Problem with Deus Ex is theres nothing really out there to compare it to. Maybe System Shock 2, or something obscure like that.

That's what makes it good though, partly

I liked System Shock 2, the atmosphere was awesome. Think I'll risk a pre order on it, I have some Amazon credit to use up!

Half the beauty of games like ME2, Fallout (to an extent), and hopefully Deus Ex, is the narritive. I like a game to have an involving story, something I can sink my teeth into so I actually feel I have a reason to kill all the nameless bad guys. If you took away the cuts scenes and the story, you might as well just have an endless shoot-fest on non descript corridors in the middle of nowhere.

I bought and finished ME2, but I can't say I was wowed by it at any point.

Will be buying this on Friday.
