surely it would be easier to buy a v6 than spend the hours and hours and hundreds and hundreds that probebly took.

Atleast when you buy a v6 it looks good and goes good

when you modify a 1.4 like that it neither looks good and goes even slower than it used to before you threw half a ton of filler at it.
