will these speakers fit

13s will fit, but IMO the OEM speakers work just fine unless you're going to use a proper amp with them. (my 172 ones worked well once I'd switched off the low-frequencies off of them)

An alternative would just be to slap a small under-seat sub in instead.

I've already got a sub i just need to wire into boot and a slightly old but not bad alpine head unit 102bt.

So i think i might ignore a amp as its just more wiring to worry about and HU is pretty powerful.

Will the door speaker get the whole frequencies from the HU or has it got crossover in there somewhere, also should i try disconnect the tweeters?

Would ideally like components but can't be bothered to remove whole dash to change tweeters

Honestly, the OEM components will be all you need for HU-only power.

The door speakers do get full-range signal, but going from the OEM components to just door-speakers is a downgrade if anything (again, only opinion).

They may be tasty replacement speakers, but really they'll need an amp before you get any reasonable difference in quality.

You can get the tweeters out without removing the dash, it's just that you might lose some skin off of your knuckles doing it. I know from experience. Didn't bother changing them out in the end but they come out easily enough. Pioneer to a custom-fit set of components (yellow cone ones) which drop straight into the original holes and have on-board crossovers in place.

I've got 16.5cm speakers in my doors, don't see why these shouldn't fit, but as Goodj says, there's very little point changing the speakers if you're only running them off a pappy head unit.

Alpine 102 bt, not that "pappy" and sub makes up for small size of cones, I do however have so 16 cm speakers but can't see how you can fit them in the door panel without allot of fuss? I was thinking of selling my 16 cm and getting the alpine 13 cm as mentioned,

thoughts?

There are a couple of useful guides on how to fit speakers into the door panels, join up and become a full member and you'll be able to see them.

The power generated from a HU will be no match for an amplifier, which will be able to drive the speakers significantly better. You'll need an amp to drive the sub anyway so you may as well get one that can drive your speakers up front too.

Speak to the Trader MT Audio on here, he'll be able to point you in the right direction, but again you'll need to join to get his details and access to his forum.

Cut everything ~200Hz and below to the door speakers and you (should) notice a world of difference !!!

Literally zero point changing them especially as you have a sub already.

That's all I ever did in my old Clio and it sounded more than acceptable.

If you're going to do a job, do it properly. Don't be lazy, the dash takes 5 mins to get out. You'll need to put in a crossover if you replace the tweeters as the stock ones have it built in.

Oh and as for the headunit being plenty powerful, no.

Where it says 4x50watts MAX it literally means max. It actually produces around 20-23 watts rms, which is fine if you don't have a loud car, but in a clio.... Nope. A small 75-100 watt amp for the components should be ample to get the most out of them.

well great for all response, appreciate it, not sure i agree with everything tho. Ive got loads to do on clio with limited time at weekends so got to prioritise what to do…...

Head unit already in place (but when turn off ignition theres no stations and memory is completely gone, maybe another thread to start)

This weekend I am going to wire in my sub which is active with a amp in built

One door speaker doesn't work anyway so will replace the door speakers with some cheaper Alpines coaxials, If not good enough will just move to back get amp and replace fronts with components when i can be arsed
