Williams engine

How much should i be looking to pay for a williams engine, i have found one, and need a price range...obviously depends on condition, mileage etc, but roughly... this one has done 75k, and is completely standard.

People are paying upwards of £700 for a complete engine and gearbox.. average seems to be about £1000 tho.

Sounds like youre talking about the one on eBay at the moment, if so Id be cautious. There is no indication of history, so you dont know how well its been maintained, and the gearbox could be mashed too..

Some of the places that might fit the engine for you could suggest a rebuild to ensure long-term reliability, if the history isnt known.. so youve gotta add on probably £1800+ for that.. then maybe a new gearbox £450+..

Bottom ends alone (onto which the 16V head and manifolds slot straight on) tend to go for £400+ at breakers.

It depends on whether the seller knows how rare it is to find this sort of thing. A mate of mine got a whole engine for £300 from a local free-ads, manifolds and all - but its more usual to pay about £1000.

Engines go for about £700-£900 alone then you got £300-£400 for gear box all plus VAT!!
