Williams Induction/Air Filters

  220bhp octy VRS

Hi

Wanted to put either an induction kit or new filter in the williams...what is everyones opinion on the best air filtration system to get?

Have heard mixed opinions on the Hill Power IK...has anyone got one fitted to the williams and if so what is it like?

Other options I guess is PiperX, K&N............any good?

Cheers

Just bung a performance filter in the original air box. Seems to be as good as anything else. I got very good gains from my green, but then the old standard one was old so may just be getting back some of the lost performance

is your williams chipped stromba? mine is (off the shelf chip i think - on there when i brought the car)....if did changing the filter cause unexpected losses or gains throughout the rev range?

Also wanted to fit a decat pipe to the car as well as change the filter/IK -ideally i guess the best thing to do is to replace the off the shelf chip with a custom mapped chip?.... or will the car not suffer? (ie direct power gains without loss of engine characteristics)

still interested in other peoples induction systems/filter choices....

cheers

Leave the original airbox on and change the filter !! Well thats unless you want to lose power in the hot weather.

Im yet to see a induction kit that works well on a williams !!

Well the car was rrd at 174. 7 and that was before the de-cat.

So by experience of other people i am estimating a gain of roughly 5 bhp from the de-cat !! So id say pretty dam close !!

The car is noticable quicker with the de-cat !! So i reckon about five bhp is a fair estimate for a de-cat !!

Although im sure the proof will come at the next rr day !!

leigh i must ask, where did you get your decat from? what exhaust system are you running? is it louder? can you get hold of the gearnob inserts for a willy? just got mine and trying to get it perfect!

michealelder At Hillpower we have developed a new ind kit for the 16v and Williams. I still have not got to the bottom of posting pictures as yet but if you e-mail me from my web site http://www.hillpower.co.ukwww.hillpower.co.uk I can mail you back some pics of the kit.

induction kits are no use on the 16v or williams. Engine is far too compact in the bonnet bay to find cold air. Best way as Leigh says is replace the filter element.

Unless of course there is a induction system which is fully enclosed..........but then again thats pretty much similar to the standard one anyway!
