Windows Mail Problem

the last week or so i cant send any emails, they just go straight to my outbox and dont send

even when i click send/receive they dont go and i dont get any error messages at all

any ideas

is it set to work online? will say in the bottom right hand corner of the program window when its open

Are you on sky broadband? IIRC they made smtp authentication mandatory recently.

If not, maybe your ISP has done the same.

I'm with Sky and I had to change my outgoing port for my mail, otherwise stuff just stuck in my outbox too.

Weird. I have this problem when I take my laptop into work and connect to their system, however it is absolutely fine at home with Sky's wireless router????

That would be correct. As a minimum you need to enable smtp authentication for that to work.

I have the same problem with my windows mail (included on vista?) The answer is its cr*p and im going to install outlook instead as its half decent! All the settings on mine were set up correctly, still cant send emails, tried everything doesnt work!

ive now fixed mine, apparently its a known bug in vista, to fix it download a program called WMUtil and this will fix it for you, just tell it to remove items from the outbox and once its done that it will work again
