As of today windows has decided to reverse alphabetically order, and reverse order in general, everything in my "open" or "save" windows.. See below

Notice that the folders are below files and everything is reverse alphabetical??? WTF?!?!

Now i know that this can be resolved by pressing this once you've gone to the "details" heading, and click the button shown below, but it just goes back to Screenshot 1 EVERY time and to be honest its driving me mental!

Those folders should naturally inherit the default layout of those in an Explorer window.

First port of call would be to open explorer (start>run>explorer.exe), setup the layout of the folder as per your preference, then default this view system wide by selecting - View>Tools>Folder Options>Apply to All Folders.

right click in the white space of the open box and you'll get arrange icons by>name

hopefully this will arrange them in regular alphabetical order and if it doesn't remember keep doing it and it soon will.

(lazy solution)

It so won't LOL.
I find that sometimes I have to arrange icons how I want more than once to get it to stay but then it does..

Perhaps I am organising them a different way somewhere else and undoing my work but I am sure this works... :S

Well the method above works perfecly, i think with your method, if you use only the same folder over and over, as long as each one is set how you want it you'd have no probelm.

It will remember it for that specific folder, but only that folder.. thats why you need to apply to all.
