Windows Steaming Up

  R26 F1
The other half has a 2007 Clio 1.4 16V and the windows steam up on it all the time (even when theres nobody in it ). The carpets are dry in the car but it still keeps doing it.
Anybody any ideas what could be causing this?

Check the re-circ button is off, check when the pollen filter was last replaced?

There may be a water leak somewhere?

I'll get looking at it properly on Tuesday. Id say the pollen filter hasnt been changed since the car was bought. She says there is some water gathering on the door sills. Do the seals around the carrier panel fail on these cars?

could also be damp in the car, possibly a small water leak somewhere. Check carpets for moisture

For anyone else with steaming windows - even if the re-circulation button is switched off, it might not mean the re-circulation flap is actually open (as i eventually found out after months of head scratching) The motor/cellenoid (whatever that open/closes the flap can break) the flap can be opened/closed manually tho ;-)

Mine is steaming up a lot too - but I did notice my rear window let in a tiny bit of water (just under the wiper arm) last day I power-washed it.

Care to enlighten people as to how?

I remember a while back a few people were asking about this.

Ye it was me that was asking about it......

It can be accessed from 2 places, either by removing the driver side scuttle panel then the other little panel that is just clipped on, under that you will see a piece of black plastic (It about 8 inches long if that) just slide it up/down (it kinda rotates right round) job done. no more steaming windows.

It can also be located from the drivers footwell area, on the right hand side just stick your head under and then stick yiour hands up into the gap, have a fiddle around and u will find it no probs.

Note: Everytime you turn the blowers on and off this will close/open the flap(so even if you dont use the re-circ button the flap is still being opened/closed everytime your swicth the blowers on/off) however mine was sticking half way so i just leave my blowers on all the time so it does not try and open/close the flap. When i get round to it i will disconnect the motor that moves it as its totally useless anyway.

Any idea how to fix the motor? When I turn my blowers off it tries to close the flap and leaves it wide open, which causes a massive breeze going above 50mph. If I put re-circ on it sometimes makes a whistling noise, pita.

Sounds like your having the exact same issue i have where the flap is sticking half way, havnt had a look at fixing it properly yet, but as i said above just leave the blowers on, or manually close/open the flap to suit. I'll proably just end up disconnecting it so that it will never move again(unless i manully move it).
