My laptop has just decided to stop working !!! It will start up as normal then the wee circle spins round like its loading up after a long wait 10 minutes sometimes it comes up with a warning box saying windows is not responding

What has gone wrong ? It has been getting slower and slower all week I have run 3 different virus checkers and 2 adaware progs aswell as defrag and having a clear out

Have you tried booting into safe mode and doing a system restore?

Might be a long shot but worth a try

When booting up hold down F8 to get to the menu

Jacko - no restore point tried safe mode

Just been in safe mood removed all the rcently d/l programs and its much better - flies allong in safe mode might have to use it all the time lol My mates giving me another 512 of sodimm to instal hopefully that will help Wish i could go ack to XP tho... Vista sucks

If all else fails you can do a system restore from your Vista install DVD under recovery options. Ive only had to do this twice in 6 months and a full reinstall on mine at work in under 6 months

My laptop did not come with an instal dvd otherwise it would have been the first thing i did mate might have to invest in one

Currently, Vista doesn't offer anything that XP doesn't already.
the main idea orriginally behind Vista was the new massivly revamped version of the NTFS file system, which they have still failed to get working.

Imo, the only version of vista worth a look is the 'Ultimate'. which still only has minor adjustments and is still fundamentaly a fancy new front end to XP which isn't much for £400+.

fyi you can get vista for like £60 oem.

i've been running vista since release, can't say i've had a problem, just put on 64bit ultimate on my new build (last week) and nothign has ever run better. never had to restore anything on it. think it's just how you use a computer which ends up needing reinstalls like that tbh

Ive been running vista since it was released and before as i had the beta testing copy ive got ultimate installed on my desk top and laptop Ive not had any problems.. as for a recovery disk bud give me a shout I'm not a million miles from you I'm over in Denny next to Falkirk and can give you a vista disk that you use your own code on. also any probs I'm willing to help out
