Windowscreen sensor

What is the sensor at the top of the windowscreen under the black plastic cover? Center of windowscreen inside.
Is it for the climate control? to compensate for outside temperature?

It serves two purposes, firstly it's the light sensor for the auto lifghts and secondly it's a rain sensor for the auto wipers.

ahh ty, Just wanted to disconnect it. remove it, to try and solve a rattle.
