Windscreen wiper removal

Having a problem doing what should be a very easy job...

Trying to get my windscreen wipers off. I open the cap, undo the nut but its still stuck fast on the spline - are you just meant to keep on pulling at it / put something under to help pull it off or is there another method?

i got one of the below from my local motor factors... takes a few turns and they just pop off

I too, would like to know how to get the passenger side wiper off, cant replace washer motor until i get it off

Very handy JustinS, I snapped the little plastic part that curls over the corner trying to get mine off the other day!
