Windscreens

  Formally Clio 182
Got myself a new windscreen today after having a huge crack in there for ages.

Gave the car a nice clean and vacuum and with the new windscreen it looks as good as new. Plus my vision is now chip and scratch free.

Don't you just love it when you get a new windscreen?

I imagine there's a fair few who got some cracks after all the cold weather and snow.

Never had one, and i think mines pretty clean TBH

Not really lol. Mine was exactly the same (minus the crack). But then I polished mine fairly regularly so I never had crap all over it :)

The trouble ATM is Autoglass etc are very, very busy your best bet IMO would be to see one of the windscreen repair firms found in Supermarket car parks.

It says I have to ring them as they will not pay if it's not arranged via their glass repair helpline :S

This was mine, repairable until the warm air from the heater meet the crack :(

  not a bloody clio!!!
Do not use the supermarket car park companys! (unless its autoglass or autowindscreens) they can charge your insurance company upto 300 pounds for a repair and if your insurance wont pay the bill gets past to you! :nono:

most major insurance companys have to glass companys you can use either
autoglass
autowindscreens
national windscreens
try them all if your after a price or insurance work as autoglass and us at autowindscreens can get realy busy. even try a local firm as they can bill most insurance companys to and there capt to what they can charge.

500 pounds for a clio screen is far to much! 150 fitted is tops tbh

£150 for a 182 windscreen, i also called autoglass and the price was very similar. you say you work for autoglass, could you get a price as if they are 150 i may even get a spare.

question if I may,

Would they replace a non cracked screen but badly scratched by a wiper blade?

Previous owner didn't change the wiper blades so sometimes in light its a pain in the arse to see!

I had mine on the pug replaced becasue of that. It hazed light very badly in the dark, so was hazardous. Autoglass looked at it, and agreed it was dangerous. Replaced through my windscreen excess.

I think you could quite easily make the argument with the insurance company that havinh it replaced would be safe, and help stop you crashing, and therefore meaning they wouldnt have to pay out.

I've got a quote for £150 for a new screen in my ph1.

I'm just going to leave it untill it cracks more though, I can see fine as its behind the mirror and I would rather leave it because if i get a new screen then get a chip in it soon after i'll be annoyed so rather leave this one untill it must be replaced.

Paid £110 cash to get the screen changed in our race car (phase 1 172) Local firm, came out and did it
