if the pitch of the wine changes with the revs of the engine then it's a pulley. Either on the Drivebelt or on the Cambelt (less likely, and very unlucky). It could also be a bearing in the altenator (which runs on the drivebelt).
If the pitch changes with the speed of the car, it's probably a wheel bearing. If it were a CV the it would be more of a rumble. If it is this, try working out which wheel it is by cornering it one way and another to releive the pressure from the bearing and see if the wine changes/stops mid corner.
