Yes I know it is August, but can anyone recommend a decent set of winter tyres I can stick on my 172 Cup (and preferably, some alternative winter wheels I can fit over the really poor months).
Just get a set of 15" steelies and stick some Michelin Alpin 2's on. They're pretty damn good. Why you'd want some winter tyres in the UK I don't know No real need unless it's going to be snowy.
If you put Alpin's on your car they'd probably outlast a normal set (yes they are softer, however they start with about 4mm more tread), but they would be a load noisier. They sound like ducktape peeling from the road come summer time. Fairly handy for driving out of muddy festivals as I found out (much to my own amusement) last year
Mine generally go on about November until April as I drive to the mountains a fair bit.

^^^ Knowsit . When , on the odd occasion we get snow you see all the cars on skinny 165's and less cruise through the snow , wider tyres is the wrong way to go . Like jamie williams says . Same tyres as you use all year round , we don't exactly live in a country that warrants winter tyres .
I have a set of 172 FF wheels that i bought with the intention of using in the winter as the Turini's are now mint and i'd rather keep them that way but i can't stand the look of the FF wheels on the car!
Make it look skinnier and dare i say it...boring!
You'd be retarded to take a car with 20" wheels out in the snow unless it's a 4x4 In which case, if it's a decent 4x4 it'll have mud&snow ones on it anyway!
