Wiper problem

Only sometimes, I turn my wipers on and they go across the screen and just stop. I then have to pull them to get them back down to the 'off' position. Sometimes, it'll wipe then come back down really slowly, and eventually stop working altogether. Last night it did it and I got a burning smell through the fans, but this has not happened since.

Any ideas? All the bolts seem to be tight on them and it's not a fuse.

If I pull my washer jets, however, they wipe as normal. It's got nothing to do with the water being on the screen though...

When I had my Corsa, the wipers did this until they eventually died halfway across the screen. Turned out to be seized linkages that then burned the motor out - a common fault with Vauxhalls it seems! Not sure if that would apply to you maybe?
