what is the twisty bit on the wiper stalk with all the dashes next to it on a ph1 172 always wondered what it done

It changes the sensitivity of the auto wipers. (assuming you have auto wipers)

...however when fitted to a Renault, it does f**k all

I actually prefer the slow, medium and fast speed settings you get on the poverty spec models.
