They are not the same as the ones on the continent, they have a fancy mechanism to clear more of the window (a la Mercedes). Also, some other models have similar systems (I am thinking 206, but I might be wrong). Other Renault have the same stuff such as the scenic.
I dont think its lazyness, it may also be due to space and cost reasons. And they work well anyway.
i thnk its quirky. Its different. Its something that ive got and none of my mates do. It means i can use them to launch things at people on the pavement rather than other cars on the other side of the road.

After it rains, when all the $hit comes up onto the windscreen, I cant see jack out of the top right corner...
Thanks for having safety in mind Renault
not exactly sure why youd need to see out of the top right corner though!
the wipers on the clio are good, the wiper is out of your field of vision longer, you get less water on your side of the car as its scraped over and dumped on the passenger side and you dont have that annoying little triangle in the way either.
If you look at the 172 cup edition they had wipers that went the wrong way to the other clios, no that was the french being lazy as the french have their ideas about wipers differnt to the rest of europe, same as japs and americans put indicators on wrong side of steering wheel!!!
so james the 172 cup had them the way that UK cars are made?
