Wireing Rca cables to run a sub with the std head unit

looking to run a sub i've got from my old car, but i dont want to fork out for a new headunit atm.

my brothers fiesta was hardwired so he could run a sub with the std head unit, but this wasnt done by us so have no idea how it is done.

if someone could please help that would be brilliant

if your existing head unit doesnt have a RCA output you can use either an amp which has a high level input or a line level converter (speaker to RCA adapter) to run it off the rear speaker cables. They start at about a tenner for basic ones but for a bit more you will be able to find adjustable converters which will also allow you to continue running the rear speakers off their normal wiring. hope that was what you were looking for!

As I said in the above statement Craig, sound will never be as good as proper pre-outs. Remote wire is an ignition live. Just get a 12v tester, find which of the wires going into the stereo turns on with the key (and turns off with the key! Otherwise its the 12v constant live) and splice a line onto that. Just do it properly lol, No black tape holding connections together! go buy some connectors or shrink-wrap and solder it.
