Wireless access slow...

  Audi S3 225
Hey, ive had this problem for a while now, just never bothered me up untill now, I have a wireless network setup with 2 computers and a laptop. The main comp has the netgear dg843gt router and the other 2 have wireless usb adaptors WG111T.

The internet access is fine and downloads are fine as well. But when i try to access the files from one of the the computers its really slow!! I need to transfer some files across but it will take ages at the moment the way its running.

Any ideas?

I don't think it's a technical issue, probably just a personality of your computer not liking CS!

anyway back to my question, i have xp and sp2 on all computers. when i say ages i mean it loads like im running out of memory. For example if i click to open an mp3 its loads in half a second on my main comp, but on the wireless its takes like 5-10 secs depending on size, this cant be right its running at 108mbps and 80% signal.

Any ideas? oh and i have the latest drivers for the router and adaptor.

Thanks

Wireless is no match for a cable.

Once you add on all the security, error handaling etc the actual speed is far less.

Are the adapters and router all the same brand? I don't think the 108 speed has actually been ratified yet anyway; try running on b or g and see if you get better results.

The hardware is all netgear, ive tweaked the settings and its running a bit better, the security is wep 64bit Guess using a cable is the only way, i bought a 30 metre cat5e cable ages ago so gonna give that a try.
