wireless audio transmission?

Car  RRS, 172, ST3, VTS
Well i have a laptop, it has wi-fi and bluetooth built in. Just wondering if there is either a bluetooth or wifi receiver I can plug into my hi-fi to allow me to listen wirelessly to music from my laptop on my hi-fi?

the squeezebox from logitech will pick up your music and play it through your stereo, you have to have a wireless router for your internet though(i have one next to me right now lol )

It pulls music doesn't it?

The Express will Push.. (as will Bluetooth speakers) which may be better.

i have a wireless router and all. just looking for the music to play wirelessly. is the reception good on the squeeze box, do i plug it into my hi-fi and just use the wireless on the laptop? do you have to pair it up each time? I dont wanna go down the route of bluetooth speakers because i have a bose setup, which i wanna use. also for the squeeze box do you have to use a certain program to play the music? Also can you connect to the internet wirelessly while using the squeezebox or can you only connect to one thing at a time, sorry for all the questions just trying to figure out how it works.

Apple Airport Express with Airfoil would do what you need.

I guess Bluetooth speakers also.

Apple airport express and airfoil deffently seems the best option, you can use it as a signal booster by pluggin it into the ethernet which i need, as there is cat5 cable run downstairs to my bedroom, but the router is upstairs so the wireless signal doesnt reach down here, so i can get rid of my netgear access point (Which i bought yesterday, DOH :( ) airfoil lets you play music from any application on the computer (winamp etc etc) instead of just from itunes. The airport express is only £45! was looking at the squeezebox and a few others and they are 3 or 4 times the price.

Has anyone on here used the airport express?

The Airport Express is amazing.
Obviously only supported in iTunes, but Airfoil does a good job.

If you buy like, 4 of them for the house, you can stream to all of them too! (And boost your signal whilst you're at it, if you use WDS).

Very good piece of kit.

how about something like this?

That's pull, not push.. :)

The only way to get round it, is to setup a stream on the computer and connect that too it, but you get a delay of like 8 seconds or something.

Airport Express is the way.. (I looked at this stuff quite a bit a month ago as I wanted to do the same thing)

(Bluetooth Speakers may still be a good option)

The apple one looks far better than any off the others ive looked at.

The Soundbridge is good if you have a HiFi or similar, and just want to play music from a media server. You can just navigate all the tunes from the unit itself, as opposed to having to play it on the PC.

Both have different uses.. for me, the Express is much better, as I always have my laptop around, and I always want to use the laptop to play the music.

Yeh same here, i want to be able to listen 2 all the stuff of the laptop on the speakers just.

ahh so it's neither push or pull it just sort of syncs with a data stream your laptop is transmitting

basicall the express, you push music from your computer to the express, meaning you play music frm your computer while your using the computer, the soundbrigde, you pull music from your computer, meaning you go to the soundbrige and select music to play of your computer.

express ftw
