Wireless Cards (USB/PCMCIA) for MAC!

  Pink & Blue 182, JDM DC2
My boss has decided to wireless is home. He has a mixture of PCs and laptops. Whilst I don't mind helping him out his wife or daughter, i forget, now has a Mac laptop.

I know sod all about Macs so can anyone suggest a nice, apple mac compatible wifi card we can get him which will work?

I'll set it all up and configure it with the Windows PC but this Mac will need access when its around.

Cheers,

Si.

{Edit} Will be looking for 802.11g compatibility.

LOL - you'll have lots of fun with that then! I had a similar situation in setting up a MAC for the MD at home. I needed to check if it was wireless ready and while Apple said it was - their online check said it wasn't.

Scouring through various forums to find a 'yay-or-nay' answer just increased the number of answers of "......it should be there" etc. As ever, the helpful-as-a-hand-grenade OSX (10.4.5.78.32.67854.546784. Siberian Eastern Ural Mountain Tiger) didn't tell me diddly squat, other than that the Airport card was present.

If that wasn't bad enough, the Airport Extreme Base Station that it should have used for the internet connection might as well have come from the Planet Zog. Even shouting at the damn thing loudly "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" got me nowhere, other than looking like a complete teewat.

Thankfully, the MD clearly had more money than sense in this case and we swapped the entire setup for a flashy Toshiba laptop and a Netgear wireless ADSL router. And guess what - it works fine....

Function over form......... everytime.
