Wireless internet HELP

Right the problem:

We have got 2 laptops and 1 PC. they are linked to a router, which is linked to a wireless thing which is linked to a modem.

The internet was running really really slow, but we found when we removed the router it was really fast.

so we bought a dongle to make the pc downstairs wireless, and removed the router so now we have the modem connected to the wireless modem like thing.

problem is now, its only letting 1 laptop/pc connect to the internet at one time, but allows them all to connect to the network.

whats wrong? any ideas?

it's a bit difficult to understand from your explanation, can you be a bit more specific?
You have a PC, is this hard-wired to the router and then you run two wireless laptops?

Hi mate,

The pc is hard wired to the router yes, we ran a cable to it. the laptops are both wireless.

we ditched to router, and bought a wireless dongle thing for the PC so it could connect to the internet wirelessly with our 2 laptops.

now it wont let more than one connect to the net :(

so do you have a wireless card/dongle in the back of your PC and a modem hard wired into the PC aswell? Or do you have a wireless broadband dongle?

Sorry I don't understand what you mean by the wireless box. Surely your router is wireless. Is it cable broadband you have??

yes mate...

the wireless box thing isn't a router, it just makes the broadband wireless.

Modem - router - wireless box.

This is the wireless box : netgear something or other

but we have now got rid of the router, and just have the above and the modem

right so now you have the cable modem > wireless router.

can you connect either a laptop or pc to the above via the ethernet cable and get a connection???

Wireless is always going to be slower than a hardwired connection.

Are you getting any error message's at all? I'm thinking IP conflicts.

nah petts, no error messages, nothing. all connect to the network, just only 1 is allowed on the internet :S

if the setup above lookes fuckeries, what should the proper one be then ?

The second setup you have is fine for home use. Run ipconfig /all from cmd and see if the ip address's are different.
