Wireless Network Card?

Buying a new pc and will be running on Vista, so need a new network card. Anyone know of a VERY good one that can handle like 10 meg? The one we currently have, Belkin wiress, can only run 2 meg and is prone to dropping connection.

tbh, its cheap, it worked - not very well, but worked, so cant moan really.

"10 meg" as you put it is 10Mbit not 10MByte (eight bits to a byte).

Wireless cards run form anywhere between 11MB/s and 108MB/s although invariably they will only run at maximum about 20% of this, ever.

So... any 54MB/s card should be able to handle a 10Mb connection pretty easily.

Wired ports are about 80% efficient, but if you're buying a new computer it's likely to have one that will handle 100MB/s anyway so there's no real need to worry

Yep. I think Belkin are running an internal competition on who can design the worst possible wireless networking kit that will still sell.

RE: the original question. Why not do a self build using a wireless mobo? They are common now and actually they are quite good. I use wireless enabled laptops for 99% of my browsing, but my Games PC is wireless via the mobo and I've never had a problem. TBH I have it set up as wired but that's a purism games PC thing more than anything else

Erm, network speed is quoted in bits.. so 11Mb, 54Mb. Wired again 10Mb, 100Mb and 1000Mb. (Not MB)
(I know 802.11n is out pretty much which is much quicker, and also other wired speeds, but I'm using examples )
