Wireless Network Key

My Mum has just got Orange broadband at her house, have my lap top, and want to go on it. The lap top is picking up the net work.

Do I need to seta nything up?

The network is listed as "Security enabled wireless network (WPA)".

If I don't have to do any setting up, where will I find the network key, so I can log on to it?

Thanks.

The key is setup on the wireless modem that I assume orange have supplied. But whether Orange give you the option to change it I do not know.

You will not be able to log on without knowing the key.

Go onto your mams pc, open a internet page and in the url type 192.168.0.1 and it should bring up the router settings.

You may have to type the long version of the key into your laptop.

(my router uses a password and it's converted into a 64bit hexadecimal key - that's what you need to log on)

if youve got the orange livebox the wep key is a 64 bit hex code and will be on the bottom of the livebox on a sticker.

default username and password is 'admin' for the control panel (http://192.168.1.1 or http://configuration.adsl/ )

can change password for control panel and the wep key if you want to or need to.

also to connect to if for the 1st time you need to press the '1' button on the back, the wireless led will flash for 10 minutes, then let your laptop try to connect ect and enter wep key when asked

:)

Cheers Jonesyx.

All sorted now, sitting in front of the telly.

Was much easier just to use the neighbours, lol.
