Wireless networking cards

Car  Mégane RS
I recently purchased a Linksys router WAG354G or something like that and i need 2 wireless adaptor things, i was wondering if i should get a USB adaptor or a PCI adaptor? which ones better etc thanks

pci will be neater in my opinion, bit more difficult to set up though.

Whats going to be connected?

Just trying to share my internet conection between my computer up stairs and my computer downstairs really

all desktops? if so then probably easiest is to buy pci units, think they are slightly cheaper too.

Liam

(on a side note, everyone seems to buying routers at the minute, there were 3 others in queue at pc world when i was buying mine other day ;)

lol, are there any advantages in speed etc between PCI and USB? thanks for your help

im no expert mate, but from what ive been told dont think there is any differences really in speed. Just ease of setting up.

If they are going to be on your desktops forever then you'd save a usb slot getting pci cards and youd have less wires etc.

Go Pci neater and no harder to set up. Just need a driver. DO NOT BUY THE NETGEAR WG311!! Pile of shite.... The Netgear drivers for this card are pants!

^^ I have this card and have had nothing but problems with it, and have had discussions on other forums with people who have also had issues with this card.

The card will work fine for a while but keeps dropping the connection, the Netgear wireless utility that comes with it is just a waste of space. Much better off trying to use the built in XP wireless utility. The chipset is actually made by Texas instruments it was more stable with a hacked driver from them up until Netgear launched the 2.07(i think that's the latest) the card is better now but I would still not recommend it to anyone.

By the way I have the V2 card.. there is a V3 now don't know if that is any better.

Linksys vinny. Its essentially CISCO kit as they now own Linksys. Cisco is obviously the dogs danglies but its nuts money for home users. Linksys current gen of wifi stuff is ace

iv had a netgear wireles router for 2 years now (on 24/7) and not had an issue with it (touch wood)

i would defo choose pci over usb tho mate! and id personally have one of the pc's wired into the router (if you hadnt planned that anyway)

pci is faster than USB aye!

and generally wired networking is better and more reliable than wireless!

if one of your pc's is in the same room as the router, may as well have than one wired :) saves buying another card too
