Wireless or wired?

  307 diesel & 1.2 TCE Clio
I'm hoping to pipe Broadband into my room at home and to my sister's room. Now do i go for a wireless network or run cables from the box? I don't know much about the wireless, are they safe and secure? Will the network be pumping radiation through the whole of my house? I can do either as i haven't comminted to either option yet

Any recommendations or advice?

regards

Get a wireless router mate.

Ultimately there's nothing as reliable as a Cat5 cable, but I've had absolutely no poblems with my Wireless router.

Really easy to set up and once they're up and running that's it - just forget about it!

Depends on SO many factors whether wireless works.

Everything affects wireless.. so if you have anything big between you and the router, it'll suffer.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't.. just have to try it!

You cannot beat a good ol' cable.

That said I have a wireless router and use it all the time, don't get many problems at all.

Ive had wireless in my house for ages and never had a problem, i think you have to have something pretty solid between you and the router to bugger up the connection as i can pick it up from next door!

The security issue shouldnt be a problem at all is you either use an encription key or just limit the MAC addresses on the router to only the machines you want to use it.

i can use my wireless router in the house all the way past my garden and into the back of my garage, no problem.

wireless all the way, can sit in the back garden having a beer whilst surfing the net, bonus.

just mind to set the security on it as none of my neighbours do I could easily use their bandwidth and their download limits lol but im not a bad guy.

Honest I never did that when my connection was fucked ;)

Turn the MAC filtering and WAP on that will deter 99.9% of potential hijackers!

Wired, wireless is so easly stolen and raped.
theres software to get your credit car details through wireless. if ur desperate to use it in the garden then get wireless but if u can do without that wired. its faster more reliable and alot more secure! price differences are minimal!

Tried wireless, kept dropping connection everytime the phone/fax rang :S
Went to good old cable after that. More reliable.

It all comes down to time and money m8 - like everything else, LOL!

Given the choice - I'd pick wired every single time. It works, it's been tried and tried again and isn't subject to interferance from daft things like wireless can be.

We had a wired setup in our previous house - worked a treat.
