Wiring...Clio MkII...Help!

Ive just upgraded my speakers in my car and have an amp and sub in my boot. The amp lights up blue and at night when i open my boot it doesnt look very impressive..so i want to light up the rest of my boot with some blue light.
I was thinking of buying some little dashboard bulbs and wiring them up to the light thats already in my boot that lights up when you open the boot.
I brought some with a cigarette lighter connector, and wired the two up but they dont work...can anyone give me any help on the best way to do this?

Bit late... But there are 3 wires 2 red 1 green I think, the 2 red are both positive and can be linked together on both sides
If u use choc blocks it would go
Green
Your lights neg
Choc block
Green



And then
Red and red
Your lights pos
Choc block
Red and red
