Wiring up a snooper

Please could somebody help me with wiring up a snooper. I want to hard wire it in to my cup so that it comes on when I turn the ignition on. Is this easy to do? At the moment I just use the cigarette lighter but want to get it installed properly so that it looks neater. Some step by step help would be greatly appreciated. Happy new year to you all!!!

not sure if its the same as the origin b2, but what i did was to take off the ciggie type plug, so u have a red (remote lead) and black (earth) wire. attatch an inline fuseholder to the red lead. then on the back of my head unit there was a bullit connector which is an remote live, connect red wire to that, then i cut the black wire to the head unit and connected the black wire to that.

Yep did the same with my Snooper.

Connected from the Cigarette lighter socket and hit the wires as best

Defo better than a nice colied lead hanging over the dashboard



Cigarette socket doesnt work on the 182 without the ignition on anyway so no need to do more than use the + - feeds from that

yeah did same with the 172, also did same with my pda for the gps so all the wirings behind the dash, looks miles better

Thanks for the help. How did you manage to hide the wire running up to the snooper? I have had a go and I just cant figure out how to run the wire. Do I have to remove the dash? I might take it somewhere and let them do it.

I managed to run under the dashboard and up alongside the fusebox.

Only a small cable so pushed it between the plastic and then under the windscreen.

Mine is an S4 so the bracket allows it be mounted very low.

Will do a few pictures later but will only be phone ones as my digi cam got nicked from work :-(

Think youll have to take the dash off if you want to do the job properly. Dont know about the new Clios but my old valvers dash top comes off with 5 screws. Just find a positive switched feed, as everyone has already said, the fag lighter will do with an in-line fuse, but maybe find a different earth for your black wire - just stick a ring terminal on it, find anywhere where there is a screw going into the bodywork, scrape a bit of paint off and tighten down the ring under the screw head. THen your Snooper has its own separate earth, its just better electrically.
