wise to tune at 92000mls





hi all, was wondering if it is wise to tune a 1.4rt with 92000 on the clock??

what checks will i have to do??

it is just because i have just got this car due to being poor after the wedding and wife needs to build up her no claim bonuses. basical she has none!!!!

i was actually considering buying a williams/ 16valver as a second car but have been quoted £600!!!! and that is with the second car discount of 65%!!

therefore for 2 cars it would be £1000 over with fully comp!!

i have full no claim bonus with extra years, had insurance for subaru sti v fully modded less than that!!!!

with the added bonus of being over 30 (wife is also over 25)!!

wonder how some of you people get insurance with the modds you all have.

some major help on weather to tune/ insurance and why i cannot even insurance a 1.8 16v for less than £400??
 


Just buy a Clio 16V and have it as your main car! Youll find a decent Phase1 for about £2,000 or less these days.

As for mods, theres absolutely no problem doing mods to a car with 92k on the clock. I guess youre probably on about filter/zorst (otherwise youre best buying a Valver/doing an engine conversion). These mods make very little difference to power etc and will not harm the car in any way - they just make you want to drive faster as the car sounds better.

Lot of people will tell you to buy a valver, valvers are twice the car the RT will ever be, but the valver aint the most reliable thing in the world. If youve had your RT a while and you know its been serviced regular, then tune the RT! Ive had my RT since 40k and its now on 91k in 3 years, I know its in mint condition as Ive serviced it regular. Just cos its lacking 8 valvers and 400cc dont mean you cant make it look good and have a hoot in it!!!!
